Handmade Bath Salts and Bath Fizzies

Handmade bath salts are easy to explain - most people have seen them before. Pure sea salt, combined with humectant (moisture gathering) agents and some kind of fragrance - in our case, essential oils or the quality fragrance oils I use in our soaps and lotions. Sea salt is a natural water softener, allowing less of the water to leave your skin as you soak in the tub, and the oils scent your bath and leave a faint fragranced protective film clinging to your skin. I throw in a touch of ultrafine cosmetic mica , for a sparkling bath and a very soft shimmer on your skin when you emerge from the water.

Bath Fizzies aren't as easy to explain, if you've never seen one. Baking Soda and Citric Acid are combined with bath oils, scented oils are blended, and perhaps a little more of that ultrafine mica is added for a tiny explosive device for your bath. When they hit the water, they erupt into a little volcano of effervescence, rolling and boiling about for a few minutes, releasing their charge of natural water softeners, fragrances, and bath oils. Your bath shimmers and shines, and smells delightful as a result, and the bath oils (which have been specially combined with a natural dispersing agent) cling in a shimmering, super fine protective film to your skin.
